Strange Worldis the latest project from Disney Animation Studios and it looks to be continuing the company's track record of releasing modern classics. A recent trailer reveal allowed audiences to see the project for the first time and it's absolutely a step in a completely different direction for Disney.
However, the information about this upcoming release really promises a fascinating film for Disney audiences. The Premise
The official synopsis forStrange Worldis as follows: "Journey to a place where nothing is as it appears! journeys deep into an uncharted and treacherous land where fantastical creatures await the legendary Clades, a family of explorers whose differences threaten to topple their latest—and by far— most crucial mission."

It appears the piece will therefore be following the lead family, the Clades, as they set foot into unknown territory. While the antagonists of the piece are yet to be confirmed, there are already rumors circulating that based on the visuals of the piece,Strange Worldcould be set on a microscopic level.
Throwback Tone
The trailer forStrange Worldhas indicated that the project is looking for a throwback tone. The trailer begins with a call to cinemas, in the fashion of retro theater advertisem*nts. It then uses plenty of the imagery and graphic design associated with pulp fiction.
Indeed, even the visuals and the bizarre action-adventure narrative itself pay homage to some of the novels and comics of the pulp era. It's a change of pace for Disney Animation Studios which has been leaning into a more modern style as of late, but no doubt the Disney logo at the top of the picture will rely on the steampunk and black and white style to introduce the film.
Creative Team
A film at Disney is only ever as good as the creative team working on the picture. While there's not enough room or time to mention the phenomenal artists, animators, and vast crew that has worked on the production, a nod has to go to the producer, director, and writer.
Disney veterans and execs Roy Conli and Jennifer Lee are producing the movie. The adventure is written by Qui Nguyen who also created the screenplay forRaya And The Last Dragon.Strange Worldis being directed by Don Hall, who also directedRaya,alongside major Disney hits likeBig Hero 6andMoana.
Cast
Although the creative team might be rounded out, fans aren't sure who will be starring in the flick. Only two cast members have been officially announced thus far, although as the release date draws closer, more information will be coming in.

Jake Gyllenhaal has been cast as Searcher Clade, seemingly the leader of the main family. Alan Tudyk, who has become a house of mouse mainstay in his own right, is providing the voice for an unidentified character. The trailer for the production sports the voice of a female actor but no one has, as of yet, been able to identify her.
Animation Style
The animation style works in the favor of what Disney Animation Studios has previously produced. It's a CGI animation style, rather than the traditional 2D, a drawing-based format that had been developed at the studio in the past. However, tonally the visuals have been shifted.
While the same techniques are being used, there's a stylized drive here to play both into the pulp fiction theme and to set the cinematography apart from what Disney has created before. Working Title
Every Disney film is given a working title, whether it's one of their major musical sequels, or perhaps a movie no on fully understood ahead of its release. WhileStrange Worldsounds like a working title itself, there was a previous name the film went by.
With evidence suggesting that the film was in production at the very least in April of 2020, Disney was referring to the picture asSearcher Clade, which is currently the name ofGyllenhaal's lead character. The studio wants to put the focus both on the family and their dangerous expedition.

During the credits sequence, just as the Walt Disney Records logo shows, a small piece of concept art for a blimp balloon is identifiable. This is the ship that the Clade family is going to be operating and using to explore the strange world that they've landed on. It will likely be an iconic piece of transport for the film!
Release Date
The release date forStrange Worldhas now been set and although there's a chance that it could be delayed, as has been the case recently, this seems pretty certain. Fans looking forward to breaking down easter eggs, clues, and plot details will have to wait for November, where it will be competing against major films likeBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever,Pinocchio, andCreed III.
Specifically in the United States, it will be launching on November 23rd, before the film makes its way to territories likeArgentina, Slovakia, andSingapore on the 24th. The United Kingdom, Iceland, Lithuania, and a range of other countries will receive the picture on the 25th, and it seems distribution will be mostly completed by this date.
